Subject Requirement

Credits (55% -70%) are the minimum required for admission. Depending on the program, ‘As’ or ‘Bs’ may be required. English language is a compulsory subject in all programs and a score of ‘A’ or ‘B’ is required; ‘C’ is the minimum requirement. Notwithstanding, students with lower grade in English Language and high grade in other subjects will be admitted but will be assessed for English-language proficiency upon arriva

Non-English Speaking Countries

For non-English speaking countries, students who meet academic requirements for admission but are not able to provide standardized test results such as TOEFL or IELTS at the time of application may be offered conditional acceptance with some universities. Students who are conditionally admitted will be assessed for English-language proficiency upon arrival. To be admitted into a full-time academic program, you must submit the following

English-language assessment scores
  • Test Name (Score Required)
  • TOEFL iBT (80 or higher)
  • paper-based TOEFL (550 or higher)
  • CAEL (60 or higher)
  • IELTS (6.5 or higher)
  • MELAB (80 or higher)
  • CanTEST (4.5 or higher)

NOTE: Choice of program does not determine entry into that program but capability to meet all requirements for that program.

Arts programs

English; one language or social Studies; three Grade 12 academic courses Science programs

Business programs

English; Math; two courses from Social Sciences, Sciences, or Language; one course from Grade 12 academic area

Science programs

English; Math; two Grade 12 academic Sciences; one Grade 12 academic course. If Grade 12 Chemistry is not selected to meet the Science requirement, Grade 11 Chemistry is required.

Nursing programs

English; Math; Chemistry; biology; one other Grade 12 academic course

Advanced Nursing Studies

This is an Education Certificate program designed to support Internationally Educated Nurses (IEN) in their preparation to write the Canadian Registered Nurse Examination (CRNE). Success in this examination is required before an IEN can work as a Registered Nurse in Canada. Demonstrating a commitment to quality education and practice, this certificate program will be based on the Canadian Nursing Association Standards and Best Practice Guidelines for the College of Registered Nursing of British Columbia. Include any volunteer work or additional information that is relevant to the application. Describe any sports, community involvement, and any activities during secondary education)

  • GPA score (4 on a 5-point scale) or specification on Graduate program
  • GRE Score (Graduate Records Examination) your choice of program will determine if this or any external test is required.
  • Detailed Resume of job history highlighting your responsibilities or accomplishments for each position held.
  • Statement of Purpose: Describe any work experience relevant to the program and what motivated your choice of program (Include employer, nature of work, and dates). (Compulsory)
